OUR GOAL
A bicycle can change the future
The answer is yes, because in rural areas of India, the distance that separates them from school and the fact that the path is undermined by risks of violence and kidnapping, is one of the main reasons why families choose not to allow their daughters to continue their studies.
It is precisely for this reason, to offer girls a safe means of reaching school, that the Interlife project " A bike for school" was born, thanks to which we have already given many girls a means not only of transport but also of freedom and emancipation.

WHAT ARE WE DOING?
A bicycle makes the difference: more safety and education
for girls
500 bicycles donated to girls aged 11 to 15 to facilitate access to school.
5 districts involved in Tamil Nadu : Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Sivaganagai, Trichy and Dindigul.
500 beneficiaries identified among high school students, orphans, semi-orphans or from families with serious economic difficulties and living in remote villages without public transport, with at least 3 km of walking to reach the school.
Bikes assembled on site by local mechanics before delivery, complete with accessories.
Training for 500 girls and their parents on bicycle maintenance and minor repairs.
50 tool kits and air pumps distributed.
25 villages involved in awareness campaigns on girls' education and safety .
5 high schools involved in programs to prevent harassment and gender-based violence .
Constant monitoring to ensure the effectiveness of the project and the correct use of bicycles.
RESULTS ACHIEVED
May 2025: Distribution of bikes begins thanks to the doubling of Fondazione Mediolanum
We are thrilled to announce that the distribution of bicycles has officially begun as part of the A Bike for School project.
All this was possible thanks to the generosity of many donors, the commitment of the Bechildren Association , the Lions Clubs and the companies involved, but above all thanks to the Mediolanum Foundation , which deeply believed in this project and made it possible to double the donations collected.
Without their support, it would not have been possible to purchase and distribute the bicycles to all 500 girls. Their contribution multiplied the impact, transforming solidarity into real change.
The project does not stop with the delivery: on the contrary, it enters the heart of a path designed to leave a lasting impact.
May – June 2025: Distribution of bicycles
June – July 2025: Training for girls on bicycle maintenance to ensure the durability of the vehicles
August 2025: Raising awareness in 25 villages on gender equality and women's and girls' rights
October 2025: Activities in Schools
January - April 2026: Community Engagement for School Safety.
The road to emancipation is still long,
but the girls will ride their bikes along it!

Thanks to the initiative of the Mediolanum Foundation , which has doubled donations until December 31, 2024, we have reached an important goal: 500 bicycles for 500 girls in rural villages of Tamil Nadu.
The initiative supported our project " A bike for school ", which guarantees access to education by reducing the difficulties associated with long distances to be covered on foot. The bicycles, complete with a repair kit, represent a concrete and lasting solution to combat school dropout and promote independence for girls.

From the Lions Club Palermo Mediterranea the support for our program.
Thanks to the initiative " A Bike for India ", promoted by the Lions Club Palermo Mediterranea, more and more Lions Clubs and companies are choosing to support the project "A Bike for School" by Interlife.
The aim is to ensure that more girls in rural villages in Tamil Nadu have a safe means of reaching school, reducing the risk of them dropping out.
The bicycles, equipped with a repair kit, represent a concrete and lasting solution to promote access to education and promote independence for girls.
A shared commitment, which is already making a difference and will continue to grow thanks to the solidarity network of Lions Clubs and their supporters!

Bechildren and Interlife together for the project "A bike for school":
100 bicycles for girls
of Tamil Nadu
The " In class with the bike " initiative by Bechildren was created to support the " A bike for school " project by Interlife, with the aim of donating 100 bicycles to 100 girls from the rural districts of Tamil Nadu.
Each bike will be equipped with a repair kit, to ensure that it can be used for a long time, without interruptions due to any breakdowns. To raise funds for " A bike for school ", Bechildren has launched the Trip To Mima , a solidarity tour that combines sport and social commitment.

A director, Virginio Favale, a bike trip and a video camera to document “ A bike for school ”, the Interlife project that donates bicycles to girls in India to ensure they can reach school safely.
And a fundraiser has been launched to donate another 500 bicycles to Indian girls who too often cannot attend school because it is too far from their village. Facing the journey on foot alone is not only tiring but also very dangerous, because they risk being raped or kidnapped.
For all of them, the bicycle is a means of moving quickly and safely but above all an instrument of freedom and emancipation . This is why for Interlife the commitment in this sense is a priority.
