Health
and emergencies

WE LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND

Health is everyone's right

We firmly believe that every human being has the right to the highest attainable standards of well-being .

This is why we launched Interlife health programs, to help people, even in the most remote areas, and ensure that everyone, especially children and the elderly, have access to health services when and where they need them.

Thanks to the Toolkit, our children go from 1 to 3 meals a day, with 90% of beneficiaries 90% more likely to supplement their diet with additional foods.

Poverty must not stop Life

THE HEALTH OF MOTHERS AND NEWBORNS HANGS BY A THREAD THAT TOO OFTEN BREAKS!

YOU DISCOVER

What we do
for mothers and newborns

Interlife implements "Maternal and Child Health" programs, also in emergency situations, to assist pregnant women in the most remote and inaccessible areas of South India , where there is a lack of medical facilities and professional nurses, and poverty puts the lives of many newborns and their mothers at risk every day.

According to the World Health Organization, India has the highest maternal and neonatal mortality rates.

Public transport does not reach these rural areas, and pregnant women, too poor to call private ambulances, cannot go to hospital, not even to give birth.

DAILY ACTIONS

For the care and prevention

Interlife's maternal and child health program, active in South India, aims to provide medical care to pregnant women and children in remote areas.

During the semester June-November 2023, 100 women and 300 children were visited with regular screenings by nurses, who bring care directly to their homes.

A gynecologist provides medical advice , and food kits and supplements are distributed to improve nutrition .

In case of emergencies or need for continuous assistance, a 24/7 health center has been opened.

The project aims to reduce neonatal and maternal mortality in areas where poverty and distance from hospitals hinder access to care.

Interventions include:

  • Home care for pregnant women and children.

  • Regular medical screenings and specialist consultations in gynecology.

  • Provision of food kits and supplements to improve nutritional status.

  • Support for safe births and postpartum monitoring.

  • 24/7 access to health facilities for emergencies and regular check-ups.

MALNUTRITION

Food supplements

With your support we can intervene in many serious cases of malnutrition that affect the poorest children, often seriously weakened by hunger and lack of nutrients.

Malnutrition is one of the main enemies we face every day.

90% of the children we meet appear younger than their actual age. One meal a day, mostly rice, is not enough to ensure the proper mental and physical development of a growing child.

In the areas where we operate, one in two children is malnourished and 70% of the others still show signs of past malnutrition.

WE REACH THOSE IN NEED

Mobile clinics

Our nurses and midwives travel from village to village in the poorest and most rural areas to treat the most needy people with screening for pregnant women and new mothers.

We work closely with Indian and African health centers to ensure full access to those most in need.
