A bike for school. An Interlife Ets project in Tamil Nadu, India. - Bc Magazine - November 5, 2025

We are pleased to share with our readers that BC magazine , one of the leading Italian publications dedicated to the world of cycling, has published an in-depth article on our Una Bici per la Scuola project, dedicating both a full article and a reminder to it in its periodic newsletter.

Their stories highlight the value of the project, its impact on the girls of Tamil Nadu, and the role of the communities involved. This is an important recognition that contributes to further raising awareness of this initiative and the daily work of Interlife.

Below we report the contents published by BC and the complete references.

In rural Tamil Nadu , southern India, going to school means walking for miles under the sun, along isolated and often dangerous roads. In these villages, girls and young women must walk 8–10 km to get to class, with a high risk of dropping out and being raped or kidnapped along the way. Many drop out of school too early, others never start at all. The "A Bike for School" project comes to their aid . It is promoted by Interlife ETS , a nonprofit organization committed to fighting extreme poverty in India and Africa by creating concrete solutions for training, employment, and social inclusion. The project offers them a safe means of transport to class and a concrete opportunity to continue their education.

Thanks to the support of the Mediolanum Foundation , the BeChildren Association , and the Italian Lions Clubs , the project has already delivered over 500 bicycles to girls living in extremely poor rural areas. Each bicycle comes with a maintenance kit , sessions to learn how to repair your own bike, and community awareness-raising activities that engage families to promote the right to education and gender equality.

A Bike for School, the documentary film

To support the project, to convey its spirit and impact, Interlife also produced the commercial "A Bike for School" and the documentary "Free Wheels India ," produced in collaboration with director Virginio Favale . Filmed in the districts of Dindigul and Pudukkottai, the film (here's the link to the official trailer ) shows the girls' stories and the reality in which Interlife ETS operates every day. The television commercial was broadcast on Rai, Mediaset, Sky Italia, Warner Bros. Discovery, and La7, and is available on Interlife ETS's YouTube channel . Interlife ETS entrusts the documentary and commercial to serve as a "call to action" for anyone interested in the issue. A donation of just €100 is enough to donate a bicycle complete with kit and directly contribute to changing a girl's life. On this page of the Interlife ETS website find all the necessary information.
