The sixth edition of Contemporary Art Day took place on May 21, 2025, at the “G. Garibaldi” Comprehensive Institute in Genzano di Roma. This eagerly awaited event took on an even deeper meaning this year thanks to the involvement of Interlife and the “A Bike for School” project .
An educational project, a bridge to the world
For the first time in Lazio , a humanitarian project has been officially integrated into the school's PTOF (Three-Year Educational Offering Plan), unanimously recognized by the teaching staff as an integral part of the educational program. "A Bike for School" has accompanied students throughout the school year in a reflection on rights, access to education in developing countries, and the importance of international solidarity.
Art as a voice for students
During the event day, the students had the opportunity to present the fruits of their labor: an exhibition of artistic works inspired by the project's themes . Paintings, installations, collages, and drawings gave shape to a shared vision: the school can and must open up to the world. The works were displayed throughout the school, transforming it into an exhibition space rich in emotion and meaning.
The initiative saw the enthusiastic participation of students, teachers, families, and external guests , in a climate of great energy and participation. Everyone enthusiastically welcomed the opportunity to engage with global issues through creativity.
A valuable comparison with Interlife
The highlight of the day was the video conference with Interlife founders Giorgia Gambini , Francesca Corso, and Cecilia Di Francescomarino , who shared with students and teachers their practical experience of the "A Bike for School" project in the contexts where Interlife operates. Their presentations connected the work done in the classroom with the daily lives of children and families in need, making the project's meaning even more vivid and tangible.
A special thank you
A heartfelt thanks goes to Mariaimma Gozzi , the initiative's tireless promoter and organizer, who strongly believed in the educational value of this project and worked passionately to bring it to school.
Building active citizenship through school
The Genzano experience demonstrates the importance of incorporating global citizenship and international cooperation into school curricula. "A Bike for School" successfully communicated with students in accessible language, encouraging deep reflection, critical thinking, and participation.
Interlife will continue to pursue this path, aiming to involve more and more Italian schools in an education that is also about experience, relationships, and commitment.
